Ben Stevenson is the Deputy Chief of Security and Facility at the Pre-Release and Reentry Services (PRRS) Division for the Montgomery County Department of Correction and Rehabilitation.
Ben’s primary responsibilities include the oversight of 173 bed community corrections pre-release program that houses criminal offenders who are eligible within the last year of their sentence. Ben has 29 direct staff reports that provide facility security and electronic monitoring supervision for high risk offenders working within the community. He previously worked as a pre-trial case manager and supervised domestic violence defendants released on bond in the community.
Ben has a bachelor’s degree in Administration of Justice from Penn State University and has two Master’s Degrees, one in Education and another in Distance Education from the University of Maryland University College (UMUC). He also served in the United State Marine Corp Reserve. Since 2005, Ben has served as an Adjunct Professor with UMUC’s Criminal Justice Department teaching various correctional administration and community corrections related courses. He also serves as a member and auditor with the American Correctional Association (ACA). He has published several articles identifying how technology can better serve the corrections profession.
